It's that time of year again, when the evenings are cool enough for a fire and the leaves start to change colors and my thoughts turn to the Smokies. I was late to the party, only discovering the beauty of these mountains a few years ago. But after just one visit, I was completely smitten! I've made a Spring and Fall pilgrimage for the past 2 years and already have my plans on the calendar for 2017. Each time I visit, I am moved beyond words by the simple grace of nature as it goes about it's business of birth and renewal in the Spring and closing up shop in the Fall. There are times when capturing a moment with my camera takes a back seat to just sitting there, soaking it all in, feeling like my soul is being restored by the wonder in front of my eyes.
I want to share a few of my favorite images with you from this visit to the Smokies. In the coming days, I will write a few posts that concentrate more on the photographic processes that I used to capture these images. So stay tuned if you are interested in hearing about some of my thoughts and techniques that I use to take these types of photographs. But until then, just relax and enjoy a little Smoky Mountain Splendor.
